Moynalty 4-15 Drumconrath 0-05
Moynalty made it two wins from two as they brushed aside Drumconrath in near-perfect conditions to book their place in this year’s Tailteann Shield final.
The home side made the brighter start, with Paddy Byrne and Joe McMahon opening the scoring. Drumconrath responded with a point of their own, but Moynalty quickly regained control through further efforts from Bryan McCormack and Paul Lynch. Drumconrath showed resilience with two excellent long-range points, yet Moynalty’s attacking threat proved decisive.
McMahon added another before Paddy Byrne struck for Moynalty’s second goal following a well-worked team move. The hosts finished the half strongly, adding three unanswered points to take a commanding lead into the break.
Half-Time: Moynalty 2-08 Drumconrath 0-05
For the second week in a row, Moynalty rang the changes at half-time, but the momentum never shifted. McMahon and Byrne extended the advantage early in the second half, before Pauric O’Connor netted Moynalty’s third goal.
There was also a memorable moment for Shane Bennett, who marked his adult debut with his first senior score. Paddy Byrne added his second goal of the contest as Moynalty continued to dominate, with further points from Byrne, Owen Gilsenan, and a lively Cormac Kearney rounding off an emphatic performance.
Moynalty now advance to the Tailteann Shield final, where they will face neighbours Kilmainham.
