
Gaeil Colmcille 5-10 Na Fianna 0-08
It was a case of reeling in the years at Grangegodden as Brian ‘Beano’ Hanlon notched up a Hat Trick of goals to leave Gaeil Colmcille on two wins from two in this year's Feis Cup.
Kells got off the to the perfect start in the opening minute, Barry Tormay intercepted a Na Fianna attack and the ball ended up in the hands of Beano who dispatched to give The Gaeils the early lead. Aaron Browne followed that with a point before Na Fianna got ther opening point.
Beano and Liam Barry pointed in the 10th and 11th minute to see Kells lead by 5. Two frees in a row from the Enfield/Baconstown outfit reduced the deficit to three points but an Ajay Tormey point got the Kells scoreboard ticking again.
Ryan Farnham got his name on the scoreboard, and his point was followed by Beano Hanlon’s second goal after Liam Barry’s dummy fell kindly for Hanlon to soccer style the ball to the back of the net. Both sides traded the final two scores of the half with Liam Devine pointing for Gaeil Colmcille.
30 seconds apart early in the second half Gaeil Colmcille snatched two goals with Hanlon getting his hat trick and Ajay Tormey getting a fourth goal for Kells. Liam Barry struck a lovely 45 and with 25 minutes to go the home side led by 15.
Na Fianna held a lot of possession in the second half but just couldn’t find their range. They did manage two points in a row before Aaron Browne got his second point of the game. Ajay Tormey followed that with his second point to add to his goal and then in the 56th minute Zach Boshell got arguably the score of the game. Boshell intercepted a ball with the keeper off his line and Boshell composed himself and dinked the ball high and into the empty net.
Adam Donnelly added Gaeil Colmcille’s final score to see Kells overcome Na Fianna with the all-important winner takes all fixture versus Trim in two weeks.
