Kilskyre/Moylagh celebrate with the Mick Leonard Cup at Pairc Tailteann

Donaghmore Ashbourne, Dunboyne, Rathmolyon and Kilskyre/Moylagh advanced to the last four of the Intermediate Hurling Championship. In the end the latter two contested the final with the North Meath combination proving deserving winners on at wet day at Pairc Tailteann.

Having come down from the senior grade in 2024, Dunboyne were seen as the team to beat. Noel McMahon’s men went down to the eventual winners at the semi-final stage in Trim. Evan McCrudden, Eoghan McCormack, Sean Quigley and Jason Gleeson all had a great season in the Black and Amber.

For the second year running Donaghmore Ashbourne exited the championship at the semi-final stage. Keeper Ben Mather, the O’Sullivan’s Michael and Darragh along with club stalwart Colm O’Méalóid can be pleased with their 2025 input.

The big day must surely be around the corner in the near future for a very youthful Rathmolyon. Despite losing out in the final they will look back on the year with plenty of positives. Success in the Billy Byrne Cup and the Division 3 hurling league amounts to a successful season. John Harnan, Trevor Healy, Sean Mulligan, the Ennis brothers Simon and Jarlath, Jack Payne, Vincent Ward and Joey Christie all stood out for Brian Gilsenan’s men.

With a fine sprinkling of intercounty experience Kilskyre Moylagh claimed their first ever IHC title. Kilskyre, on their own, were winners in 1994. Keeper Charlie Usher, veteran Podge Muldoon, Meath U 20’s Paul Hennessy and Fergal Flynn, Meath seniors James Cooke, Tom Shine, Seanie Geraghty and Darren O’Higgins were outstanding for the combination side.

Our Player of the Year is Daire Shine. The county senior was a step above anything in the grade during the season. At the heart of the winners defence Shine was immense. His ability to clear his lines, find a team mate in a better position or land some very valuable scores made it one of the easiest choices we had to make.
