Stackallen N.S. 5-11
St. Anne’s, N.S., Navan 1-10
In a game of two halves Stackallen completed a notable double with this win over St. Annes in the Boys Division 2/3 Shield final in the last game of the day at Lomans Park. Two weeks ago the girls team defeated the same opposition in the same grade at Ashbourne. The winners played with the wind in the first half and worked up a 4-10 to 0-1 lead at the break. Goals from Olly Timmons, Oisin Roche (2) and Jack Black set Aisling Burke and Siobhan Downey’s team up for what looked like a comfortable victory.
Fair play to St. Annes and after their half time pep talk they came out a far better team. In the opening 15 minutes they outscored Stackallen 0-9 to 0-1 with some excellent points from Jason Fleming, James Regan, Harvey Cahill, Aidan Finney and Enzo Filipe. Despite being under pressure Stackallen made sure there was to be no comeback when Oisin Roche got in for their 5 goal, his 3rd, with minutes remaining. St. Annes did manage to raise a green flag before the final whistle through Eoghan Kiernan but by then Stackallen were well on their way to another schools title.
After the game Frank Reidy presented the Division 2/3 Shield to Hugo Roche and Jack Black.
