Navan O’Mahony’s 0-12 Dunderry 0-05
In a historic first match on the new Pitch 6 in Dunganny, O’Mahony’s claimed the Div 5 HL title at the fourth time of asking on Monday evening, having suffered narrow defeats in 2022, 2023 and 2024. The weather conditions were horrendous, with heavy rain and wind marking the end of June! PHOTOS
Dunderry got the first score of the game before Rían Porter opened the scoring for O’Mahany’s in the first half. The game started in warm dry conditions, but this soon turned to wet, cold and windy, making it far from ideal for scoring!
Porter added another score and two frees from Paddy Skehan left O’Mahony’s with four points at the interval, while Dunderry added two. Both teams had a number of missed opportunities with a number of wides from frees and from play, as well as a couple of balls dropping short for O’Mahony’s against the howling wind.
A great save from netminder Declan Tolster in the first half proved important in O’Mahony’s maintaining the lead going into half time, with the wind advantage to come in the second half.

With the wind behind them in the second half, O’Mahony’s had a bit more luck in front of goals in the second. Skehan added three points to his first half tally, one 65, one free and two from play.
Sean Davis made a good impact off the bench, adding two points. Shane McCarthy and Brian Dunne also added their names to the score-sheet.
At the conclusion of the match, Michael Reavey accepted the cup on behalf of his O’Mahony’s team-mates.
