FL Div 4: Relegation worries continue for Carnaross

June 30, 2025

Paddy McDermott Carnaross

Moynalty 1-20 Carnaross 1-11

Moynalty used the wind at their backs in the second half to blow Carnaross away.

Carnaross started the first half well but the home side always remained in touch. Frees from Paddy McDermott opened the Ross' account. Charlie Murphy then bagged himself a fine point as he impressed in the full forward position. Shane O’Reilly sent over a point a piece with either foot. Murphy then sparked the game into life with a well taken goal after he cooly collected Oisín Yores long delivery. Unfortunately for Carnaross,  Moynalty responded immediately with a goal of their own. Darragh O’Reilly completed the scoring in the first half but Carnaross' wide tally of 5 was crucial as they failed to utilise the elements as they held a 1 point lead.

In the third quarter, the teams were evenly matched but the gale force wind began to pay dividends for Moynalty. A waft of two pointers left the game out of reach for the Junior B champions. McDermott added to his tally with another 3 points but the men in red and white had strength in numbers in defence and broke at speed. Darragh O’Reilly added another point that his work rate merited. Paddy Farnan and Shane Yore really took the fight to their opponents but ultimately Moynalty had too much for their neighbours.

Another defeat for Carnaross who welcome St Colmcilles to Páirc Naomh Chiarán in a relegation battle next weekend.
