Kilmainhamwood 0-16 Wolfe Tones 1-12
Kilmainhamwood made the relatively short trip to Gibbstown on Tuesday evening in a pivotal game regarding the Division 5 semi final positions race.
Kilmainhamwood got the game underway via a nice fisted point by Darragh Smith to get the scoreboard ticking over. Further points were added by Shane Townley and a brace from Rian Stafford. The Wood rearguardwere working hard to keep the Tones attackers at bay, they themselves registered a nice pointed free coupled with a few nice points from play to keep Kilmainhamwood in their sights. The Wood men pushed on however with industrious scores from Niall Bennett, Killian Russell and Aidan Roche to give Kilmainhamwood the lead at the interval.

The Wood came out looking to build on this half time lead and did so through scores from Rian Stafford and a nice effort from Niall Conlan. Aidan Roche and Gary Yorke got in on the action by adding 2 more points. Wolfe Tones with the clock against them opted for a more direct route for the final 10 minutes and were getting good results of this with a goal and a point added to their tally to leave it nervy for the men in white. Rian Stafford converted 2 more frees to increase the lead. Wolfe Tones weren’t finished yet as they scored 2 more points of their own to leave the minimum in it. Tones had the ball and worked it in around Kilmainhamwoods 45, they kept probing for the score to level the affair up. They never got a chance to get the shot away as the referee sounded the full time whistle and Kilmainhamwoodheaded back north with an important win and 2 more points on the league table.
