FL Div 7: First win for Rathkenny

Rathkenny’s 2nd team gained their first league win of the campaign away to Dunderry with a very good team performance on a perfect evening for football.

Playing with the aid of a slight breeze in the first half Rathkenny hit the ground running with Niall Brannigan and Aaron Johnson getting early points. The home team hit back to level it up before Rathkenny took control with six unanswered points before the break. Noah Mc Bride tapped over two frees , Jeaic Timmons and Johnson shared the next four scores leaving the half time score Dunderry 0-2 , Rathkenny 0-8.

The hosts got the first couple of scores in the 2nd half to reduce the arrears but Rathkenny then hit a purple patch, hitting 3 - 2 in quick succession, the goals coming from TJ Bellew,Jeaic Timmons and Niall Brannigan with Noah Jenkinson and Joey Curtis knocking over the points.

While Dunderry hit back with two goals of their own, The visitors kept them at bay with further points from Joey Curtis(2) Colm Kerrigan, Donal Curtis and Aaron Johnson to leave six points between the teams when Referee Martin Dawson blew the final whistle.
