Blackhall avoided league relegation with a strong performance in the Division 3 relegation playoff in Bective.
Blackhall led for the majority of the game, taking the lead in the third minute. They went further ahead when Paul Kelly palmed the ball into the Bective net in the 13th minute 1-2 to 0-2. Blackhall stretched the lead to 5 points at one point but Bective finished the half stronger bringing it back to 3 at the break. 1-6 to 0-6.
Blackhall pulled ahead again early in the second half Luke Jennings and Dermot Carty pointed to put 6 between the teams before Bective bounced back with a goal of their own followed by a point to set the game up for a frantic finale. Jennings and Carty pointed again to maintain the distance before Liam Jennings closed out the scoring with a pointer free at the end.
The win means Blackhall maintain their status in Division 3 and will bring confidence to the group ahead of the intermediate championship. It was a positive end to a frustrating league campaign for William Farrelly’s charges.
