MFT Group D: Big win for Moynalty

April 06, 2024

Moynalty's Eoin Gilsenan

Moynalty 5:16 Slane 2:10

The rearranged fixture between Moynalty and Slane proved to be a high scoring content with both sides playing terrific attacking football.

Caoimhin Cussen and Eoin Gilsenan put Moynalty into an early 4 point lead, but the strong Slane outfit battled hard back to score an unanswered 1-04 to put them into the lead. This spell included winning a penalty which Eanna Bennet saved, and also saved the follow up, and it proved to be a turning point as Moynalty regrouped and started putting more scores on the board. Two quick fire goals before half time from Shane Bennet and Cathal Donoghue along with plenty of excellent scores from across the forward line left the half time score Moynalty 3:09 Slane 1:07

The second half was equally as entertaining, with Moynalty's forwards kicking some excellent scores and their defence also holding strong. Mikey Smyth added excellent energy running from deep in defence, setting up several attacks and also turning over the ball and keeping the Slane score down on the day.

The next match for Moynaltys Minors is Monday 8th April away to Na Fianna in Enfield with throw in 6.45pm.
