Trim 1-27 Killyon 2-9
Jubilee Cup holders and favourites to retain the title Trim made it three wins from three outings with this comfortable win over Killyon at Longwood. PHOTOS
Apart from two short spells in the game Jimmy Canty’s men were never in trouble.
Killyon lined out without county star Adam Gannon. David Raleigh got the scoreboard working with a fine point but by the 5th minute Trim were 0-3 to 0-1 ahead with points from impressive corner back Eoghan Ryan, Alan Douglas and James Andrews. A Stefan Kelly goal put Killyon back in front but for the remainder of the half Trim outscored their opponents 0-11 to 0-4 and go at the break with a 0-14 to 1-5 lead.
The team in Red and Green were back in the game after two minutes of the second half when Keith Keogan blasted a free to the Trim net. Trim’s reply was emphatic. Seven points from Douglas, one from Andrews and a Mikey Cole goal put the result beyond doubt after twenty minutes off play. Killyon’s only response during that scoring blitz was a David Raleigh point.
In the three rounds to date Trim has scored 4-68 and on this form alone are the team to beat in the race for the Jubilee Cup.
Alan Douglas finished with 11 points. The Trim dual star gets married today to Kiltale’s Sarah Kelly. We are sure there will be plenty of hurling talk at that wedding.
Best for the winners were Douglas, Eoghan Ryan, Ger Dwane, James Toher, David Murtagh, Pa Ryan and James Andrews. The Raleigh brothers David and Thomas along with Adam Flanagan and Niall Smullen tried hardest for Killyon
