Schools: Second half display secures first part of the double for Moynalvey

Moynalvey claimed the first part of a memorable double with this nine point victory over Cortown in the Allianz Meath Cumann na mBunscol Boys Division 4 final at Pairc Tailteann. PHOTOS

The large crowd that turned up for the 10.30am throw in were treated to a great game of football.

Inspired by the outstanding Dara Loughran, Cortown controlled the opening half and led 0-8 to 1-2 at the break. The dynamic number 10 kicked six points for his school in the opening twenty five minutes. Moynalvey started in whirlwind fashion and registered 1-2 without reply in the opening five minutes, joint captain Cathal Byrne getting their goal.

With wind advantage in the second half Moynalvey found their rhythm and three quick fire goals midway through the half from the impressive Byrne left Cortown with a mountain to climb. James Hanifin made sure of victory with Moynalvey’s fifth goal with minutes remaining.
