A point just before the full time whistle from Chloe O’Neill sealed a memorable win for Kilmessan NS over a very good Kentstown NS side in this exciting Allianz Meath Cumann na mBunscol Girls Division 2 Football final at Pairc Tailteann. PHOTOS

O’Neill was the outstanding player on view and finished with a tally of 1-5. The winners were 0-2 to 0-1 in front in a low scoring opening 15 minutes before Kentstown took over with a goal from Emma O’Donoghue and points from Lucy Doyle and Riona McCoy to go in at the break 1-3 to 0-2 in front.

The wind favoured Kilmessan in the second half but Kentstown drew first blood with a Lucy Doyle goal. O’Neill replied with 1-1 but Sadhbh Walsh struck for Kentstown third major. Kilmessan began to dominate possession. Katie Martin raised a green flag, two more points from O’Neill along and one from Nicole Cunningham had the game tied up with minutes remaining before O’Neill sent over the winning score.
