Bhí bua iontach ag Clann na nGael in aghaidh Conamara Gaels, Boston ar maidín i Leitir Móir. Bhí goath láidir ag Clann sa cheád leath, agus thug siad an buntaiste do le dhá cúl ó Gerry Sullivan. Rinne na lads iarracht iontach sa deireadh leath in aghaidh an gaoth. Bhí Luke Swaine sa ‘sin bin’ le haghaidh deich nóimead agus fuair Paddy Tiernan gortaithe lua sa leath. Beidh Clann ag imirt sa cluiche leath cheannais amarch! 

The game started with two quick fire points from Clann na nGael and the Meath side were 3 points to no score up after six minutes. Both sides traded good points before Conamara Gaels added another to leave it 4 points to 2 with 12 minutes gone. 

Darragh Griffin kicked the score of the game with a beautiful 45’ from the stand sideline to leave Clann 3 to the good. The following five minutes was when Clann took complete control, scoring 1-4 without reply. The goal came off the back of a brilliant team move started by Thomas Doyle and Gerry Sullivan finished the ball to the net with a palm finish. Clann defended brilliantly with corner back Paddy Tiernan standing out with some excellent tackles and blocks. 

Conamara Gaels took a small chip out of the lead before Gerry Sullivan netted again just before half time. The Athboy / Ráthchairn side went into the break with a 2-09 to 0-03 lead. 

With Conamara Gaels now in possession of the strong wind, they naturally took advantage of it with an early score. The game was then stopped with Paddy Tiernan sustaining what looked like a serious knee injury. The American side kicked two further scores before Josh McGrath steadied the ship with a good score. Luke Swaine’s black card left Clann under a bit of added pressure, with the Gaels scoring 4 consecutive points to leave just the two goals between the sides. Darragh Swaine was struck late on with a controversial decision leaving the Boston men lucky to have 15 men finished the game. 

Eoin Griffin made an excellent save to keep Clann in a comfortable position, and Clann never looked like loosing the lead. 

Best for Clann na nGael were Éamon Ó’Donnchadha, Diarmaid Ó’Donnchada, Darragh Griffin, Gerry Sullivan and Paddy Tiernan

The Meath side advanced to the semi-finals which will be played in Leitir Móir tomorrow afternoon!
