Clann na nGael got off to a good start with two unanswered points going into first water break.  After a nervous start from Moynalty in the first period, they came back out with an increased tempo that resulted in the majority possession and pressure on the Clann na nGael defence. This strong performance was rewarded with a fine goal from Ewan Gilsenan as he worked the ball from the right wing and drove it low into the back of the Clann na nGael goals. Building on this momentum, Shane Bennett, Eoin Gilsenan and Sean Cassidy also combined to score five points giving Moynalty a commanding lead as the first half came to a close. However Clann na nGael, responded with their own goal before the half time break leaving Moynalty with a two-point lead at the half time whistle. Moynalty 01:05  Clann na nGael 01:03

The second half was action packed with Clann na nGael coming out of the blocks straightaway and putting the Moynalty defence under sustained pressure. Despite a number of fantastic saves by the Moynalty goalkeeper David Daly, Clann na nGael scored another goal and a point to give them the lead. Slowly the Moynalty defence started to take control and win the majority of possession. With Odhran McMahon, Benjamin Grim, Oran McKenna and Stephen Cassidy leading the defence, it allowed the midfield combination of  Shane Bennett and Jack Kavanagh to open opportunities for the Moynalty forward line. After a couple of near misses by the Moynalty attack, Danny Gorman scored a point and Shane Bennett scored a fantastic goal after a well worked ball from the Moynalty defence. This gave Moynalty a well-deserved one-point lead going into the second water break. Moynalty 02:07  Clann na nGael 02:05

The final period of the second half was nail biting as both teams worked hard to create opportunities and scores. The Moynalty defence put in a heroic display to deny a very determined and strong Clann na nGael attack any scores despite numerous attempts. Aaron Lynch, Leo Kavanagh and James McCabe also combined well as they worked the ball up the field on a number of Moynalty attacks. Shane Bennett closed out the game with an excellent point that was the final score of the game and left Moynalty as the U13 Football League Roinn D winners by two points.
