More delight for Dunboyne stars Emma Duggan and Shelly Melia.

Dunboyne 2-11 Foxrock Cabinteely 2-8

Dunboyne were crowned Leinster Club Ladies Senior Football Championship winners for the very first time after a three point victory over six in a row chasing Foxrock Cabinteely at Kinnegad.

Ladies Footballer of the Year Vikki Wall got the scoreboard working. In a tense opening quarter the Dublin champions held a 0-3 to 0-2 lead.

A point separated the side before Katie McNally palmed the ball to the Dunboyne net and the holders went in at the break 1-5 to 0-4 in front.

Vikki Wall and Saoirse Quinn narrowed the lead to one for the Meath champions before captain Fiona O'Neill made no mistake with a goal and Dunboyne were two points up. Stalwart O'Neill and Duggan extended the lead to four.

Foxrock were back in the game minutes later when Hannah O'Neill got their second goal but Dunboyne refused to panic. Wall steadied the ship with another point and the lead was back out to three when Duggan sent over her fifth score of the game.

That lead was soon extended to six when another club stalwart Shelly Melia got in for her teams second goal. The holders refused to give up and were rewarded with a brace of points from Jodi Egan but it was to be Dunboyne's day and they held on to win their first title with three points to spare to complete a fairytale year for Meath ladies football.

Dunboyne scorers: Emma Duggan 0-5, Vikki Wall, 0-4 Fiona O'Neill 1-1, Shelly Melia 1-0 Saoirse O'Neill 0-1
