It was the Brews Hill Boys that made the quick start scoring the opening two points of the game, the first coming from play and the second coming from a place kick. An Ajay Tormey point on six minutes slowed the O'Mahony's momentum temporarily as they looked destined for a goal only for Glen Gavagan to keep out the Navan forward.

O'Mahony's added a third point on 9 minutes and their fast-paced start was capped off with a goal in the 10th minute. Kells keeper Gavagan produced a wonderful point blank save but the ball fell kindly to the O'Mahony's forward who side-footed to the back of the net to see the lead increase to five points. Justin Carry-Lynch was happy to hear the water break and Kells returned a more determined side as Andrew Butler pointed to give Gaeil Colmcille their second point of the game.

Tormey followed that up with Kells third point in the 20th minute. From the resulting kickout, Gaeil Colmcille turned over possession and a direct ball into Jack Hogg was well gathered by the Full-forward and as he tore down on goal the O'Mahony's defender brought Hogg down for the referee to signal for a penalty. Up stepped Butler but he saw his effort saved by the Navan O'Mahony's keeper.

Tormey added his third point of the game with a Free on 23 minutes and a point from Butler one minute later left the minimum between the sides as the half was drawing to a close. Navan O'Mahony's kept plugging away scores and two in two minutes meant the lead was back to three points with 27 minutes played. Butler added his third point of the game from a dead ball to keep The Gaeils in the game with the game heading into first half injury-time time.

With 33 minutes on the clock and deep into stoppage time O'Mahony's got their second goal of the game despite the best efforts from Gavagan to keep out the Navan attacker. That was to be the last action of the half as Navan O'Mahony's lef 2-05 to 0-06 at the Half-time break.

With two minutes played in the second half, Hogg got in behind his marker and once again got taken down deliberately, this time outside the penalty area resulting in a free for The Gaeils plus a black card for the Navan defender. Tormey tapped over the free to leave four points between the sides.

Kells failed to capitalise with the numerical advantage as Navan O'Mahony's outscored Gaeil Colmcille in the ten-minuteperiod two points to one as Substitute John Gormley got on the board for Gaeil Colmcille. Two more points from O'Mahony's saw them stretch six points clear. Kells were unlucky not to claw back the lead as Butler hit the crossbar from close distance and fell to safety for the Navan men.

Gaeil Colmcille did get a lifeline in the 52nd minute when Navan O'Mahony's coughed up possession on their own 45-yard line after good pressure from the Kells forwards and two slick passes left Tormey one on one with the O'Mahony's keeper and he made no mistake shooting low to the bottom corner to leave three between the sides.

Just as the flow of the game panned out, Navan upped the tempo in the final five minutes and three points in a row killed off any chance of a Gaeil Colmcille comeback and the bragging rights and the trophy headed for Navan.

For Gaeil Colmcille the incredible journey for this team continues as they make their Division 1 debut on Saturday which in itself is a wonderful achievement and credit to the hard work these lads have put in over the last couple of years.
