Meath entered two teams in to this years Celtic Challenge hurling competition.
Meath Royals 1-12 Louth 1-8
Last Saturday it was the turn of the Meath Royals who hosted neighbours Louth in the sunshine at Dunganny.
Shane McCormack opened the scoring for the home side on the 5th minute. Louth settled and responded with 1-1 before Daniel Boyd narrowed the gap for Meath. The Royals got the perfect tonic before the break when the impressive Evan O’Kane got in for a goal but the visitors still held a 1-5 to 1-3 interval lead.
Meath came out with all guns blazing in the second half. Jodev Punchen opened his account before Cathal Regan landed three points in quick succession. Meath were 1-7 to 1-6 in front at the second water break.
The young Royals kept their composure when play resumed. Regan added another and four more points from captain Shane McCormack closed out the game in Meath’s favour.
Meath were well represented by Fionnan Hogan, Luke Gallagher, Cian Doherty, Oisin Daly, Cathal Regan, Shane McCormack, Daniel Boyd and Evan O’Kane.
Next up for Meath Royals is a trip to face Longford on Saturday July 10th.
