Meath claimed the 1970 Leinster SFC title after a 2-22 to 5-12 win over Offaly. The Royals went on to contest the All Ireland final but came unstuck against Kerry going under by 2-19 to 0-18.

Meath forward Tony Brennan will have fond memories of that campaign. Despite losing out in the ‘big one’ the Meath attacker finished top of the All Ireland scoring charts seeing off the likes of Tony McTague (Offaly) and Kerry’s Mick O’Dwyer.

Brennan finished with a fine total of 33 points, 3 ahead of the Offaly great and 7 ahead of the Waterville corner forward. 

The former Meath selector’s highest tally was ten points against Offaly in that epic Leinster Final win.

Mickey Fay was Meath’s second top scorer that year. The Trim man hit 10 points in the All Ireland final against the Kingdom and finished the campaign with 2-14.
