Just like in 2016 when St. Colmcilles won the Leinster Club Intermediate Football Championship title the Seasiders are kings of Leinster once again by finishing top of the Leinster GAA Every Step Counts challenge.
The challenge was divided across the four provinces and the goal was for each club to track a collective 4,000km over 7 weeks (that's roughly the distance around Ireland!) between 13th January - 3rd March to be entered into a prize draw. The event came to a close at 12 midnight last night.
Over the seven weeks the ‘Cilles’ club members collectively clocked an amazing 50, 545 miles (81,344km) and beat off stiff competition from Clontarf. The Dublin club finished second with 48,937 miles (78,756km).
175 clubs across the province took part in the very successful challenge.
Donaghmore Ashbourne, Wolfe Tones, Duleek Bellewstown, Seneschalstown and St. Michaels finished in the top 20.
Other Meath clubs to take part were Bective, Dunshauglin & Royal Gaels, Syddan, Dunderry Camogie, Longwood, St. Brigids, Oldcastle, Curraha, Clonard, Slane, Kilmainhamwood, Carnaross, Blackhall Gaels, Ballinlough, Boardsmill, Kilbride, Gael Colmcille, St Ultans LGFA, Meath Hill, Navan O’Mahonys, Kilmessan, Kiltale and Moynalvey,
Five of the St. Colmcilles members, Billy Caddell, Ursula Collins, Elena Wade, Brenda Devine and Andrew Clarke passed the 1,000km mark. A remarkable achievement.
In each province there are 3x O'Neills vouchers up for grabs - €2,500, €1,500 & €1,000.
Every club that tracks more than 4,000km during Every Step Counts are entered into the draw.
