The late Bill Henry

The death has taken place of Bill Henry, one of the stars who led Donaghmore to a Meath Intermediate Football Championship title in 1959.

Donaghmore Ashbourne paid tribute to Bill who lined out with the club for over a dozen year.

Sad to report the recent passing of former Donaghmore stalwart William (Bill) Henry, who wore the club colours with distinction in the 50’s/60’s.

Bill first came to prominence in 1956 and began to establish himself in the Donaghmore Senior team, although still a minor. While the club was relegated to the Intermediate grade in 1958, Bill played a leading role as Donaghmore recorded a thrilling victory over Kilmainhamwood in the 1959 final. He continued to play with the club until the late 60’s. Bill is remembered as a loyal and dedicated club member, always giving of his best on the field of play.

To his wife, Ann, children Victor, Patricia , Robert, Eva and extended family we offer our deepest sympathy

Ar dhéis De go raibh a anam dhílis.

Bill's Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday 17th February at 11.30 am in St Patrick's Church, Donaghmore, followed by burial in Greenogue Cemetery.
