Cairn's Cold Water Challenge for Aware

October 30, 2020

Brian and Eamon Quinn and John Conneally do the Cold water Challenge

Ballinabrackey’s Eamon and Brian Quinn along with site manager John Connelly have decided to do the Cold Water Challenge for 2 weeks as part of World Mental Health Day. Their aim at the beginning was to raise 1k but that quickly escalated and as from this morning it is over 13k with all proceeds going to Aware.

Their company Cairn Homes are going to match the final figure when the page closes at midnight this Friday October 30th, so if you donate €1 you are actually donating €2.

John is a very proud Galway man and like Eamon and Brian are very passionate about positive mental health and also have a great love for all things GAA.

“The key message we are striving to deliver that our challenge symbolise are;

No matter what struggle you are going through there is somebody going through the same thing as you.

You are never struggling alone - there is always support to be seen or be given if you look up instead of down

Bad days or hours will come, but if you persevere and with the help of your friends and comrades, they will pass.

A problem shared is a problem halved - grab a buddie to get into that water beside you!

This year has been one of the most challenging years for our mental health this nation has faced in many. The message below we hear every day now, lets embrace

 the message and face up to the challenge united.

We are all in this together #2020”
