Ratoath's master plan is kept well under wraps from the rain

It is all over bar the shouting. The Peter McDermott, Mattie McDonnell and Keegan Cups have found their resting places for 2020 after a very strange year indeed.

Here is our Best XV from county finals weekend.

Dean Pluck (Ballinabrackey): A solid performance and a crucial save in stoppage time as the ‘Bracks’ made it to the top level for the first time in their history.

Adam O’Brien (Ballinabrackey): Did what a lot of defenders couldn’t do throughout the campaign, held Trim danger man Eoin O’Connor scoreless over the hour in Navan.

Conor McGill (Ratoath): The All Star nominee was a rock at the heart of the champions defence and his flick from that high ball in the dying seconds created the goal chance for Joey Wallace.

David Raleigh (Ballivor): Another sterling performance from the dual player. Won back numerous possessions and got his team moving forward on several occasions in the rain at Pairc Tailteann.

Andrew Gerrard (Ratoath): In the most dramatic senior final in years his high delivery after a string of passes into the Gaeil Colmcille danger area resulted in Joey Wallace’s late late winner.

Gavin McGowan (Ratoath): Apart from his early black card the talented dual star never put a foot wrong for the Keegan Cup winners on a very wet surface at HQ.

Sean Bannon (Ballinabrackey): Covered every blade of the pristine Pairc Tailteann sod for the cause. Defended bravely and was on hand to set up scoring moves as Gordan McDonnell’s charges took home the Mattie McDonnell Cup.

Chris O’Connor (Ballinabrackey): The drive behind this impressive outfit. The former county man chipped in with three crucial scores in that one point win over Trim.

Liam Ferguson (Gaeil Colmcille): Phenomenal work rate from the Kells captain. His first half point was one of the scores of the game.

Danny Quinn (Ballinabrackey): Impressed throughout and scored five points including the winner on that very emotional afternoon for the Offaly border outfit at Pairc Tailteann.

Martin Barrett (Gaeil Colmcille): Another exceptional performance from the Kells centre forward. His vision on the ball and willingness to work for the team has been one of the highlights of the year for Lar Wall’s charges.

Seamus Mattimoe (Gael Colmcille): Arguably Gaeil Colmcille’s best player. Every time he was on the ball there was panic in the Ratoath defence. The talented attacker scored four points.

Joey Wallace (Ratoath): Hard to believe that in his last two senior championship games the county man has won two Keegan Cups. Gave the Kells defence a world of trouble, got the winning goal along with three points and was voted man off the match.

Bryan McMahon (Ratoath): The captain led by example, unselfish workrate and scored six points as Brian Farrell’s charges made it two in a row at a wet Pairc Tailteann.

Luke Mitchell (Dunshaughlin): The full forward’s goal and nine went a long way to securing the Black and Ambers place in senior championship football next year.
