Long-serving football goalkeeper Shane Duffy has brought the curtain down on his playing career.

The 38-year-old lined out between the posts for over 20 seasons at senior level and bows out on a high after winning back-to-back Meath SFC medals with his adopted Ratoath having joined them from Magheracloone in 2015.

Duffy helped Ratoath to a first county IFC title in his first year and more success followed in the senior ranks in 2019, claiming a maiden Keegan Cup crown which was successfully defended on Sunday when beating Gaeil Colmcille in dramatic fashion.

He also won a Monaghan SFC title with Magheracloone in 2004 and went on to represent Monaghan at the highest level.
