Brioch Meehan gains possession for St. Michaels against Bective

St. Michaels 4-14, Bective 1-05.

St. Michaels had far too much quality across the pitch as they recorded a comfortable victory away to Bective on Sunday evening. First half goals from top scorer Brioch Meehan and another from Claire Reilly set them on the road to victory as they led by 2-8 to 0-3 at the break. Meehan aslo posted four first half points with Reilly adding two and one each from Grace Keoghan and Katie Smith. Ori-Anne McConnell pulled off some fine saves between the St. Michaels posts while sisters Ciara & Aoife Bennett and Shauna and Lauren Murphy controlled the middle third exceptionally well.

Darkness began to fall as the second half began and although the young Bective ladies put in a brave second half performance, they could only add 1-2 to their tally while at the opposite end Meehan (2), Reilly (2) and Smith (1-1) all split the posts as did substitute Edel Reilly who added 1-1 for her short spell on the pitch.

St. Michaels team and scorers: Ori-Anne McConnell; Ciara Finnegan, Anna Cunningham, Bebhinn Dolan; Shauna Murphy, Grace Keoghan (0-1), Ciara Bennett; Ciara Reilly, Aoife Bennett; Ella Armstrong, Lauren Murphy Katie Smith (1-2); Brioch Meehan (1-6), Claire Reilly (1-4), Anne Behan. Subs: Edel Reilly (1-1) for Behan, Eva Berdeta for Dolan, Kellie Harten for Armstrong.
