IHC: First win for Dunderry

Dunderry needed to win this round 3 clash of the IHC after 2 defeats and from the first whistle lay down a statement of intent.

Conor Farrell opened the scoring in the 3rd min with a well taken goal followed by points from Jamie Leavy (0-4,1f) and a fine point from Alex Walsh. Drumree replied with 3 points leaving the score 1-5 to 0-3 after 15 mins. In the 18th min Drumree had a goal chance but for a superb save from Mickey Dowdall the resulting clearance by Brendan Wright found Conor Dempsey his long high ball caused the Drumree keeper problems Farrell harassed and hooked his clearance beat 2 defenders and found the net.

Farrell and Leavy added 2 more points Drumree replied with 2 points but Farrell was unstoppable and got his 3rd goal after good work from Jordan Martin and Conor Leavy. Martin got the final score of the first half with a fine point to leave the halftime score 3-8 : 0-5 to Dunderry. 

The 2nd half started with Martin scoring another fine point the return of Conor O’Shea from America in the half forward line was a big bonus. Drumree had a purple patch and scored 2-2 one goal a penalty which seemed soft. But Farrell wasn’t finished and got his 4th goal after a long puck from Dowdall which was won by Liam Dempsey he found Farrell who dispatched it into the bottom corner of the net.

Dunderry scored 4 more points J.Leavy 2 frees, Farrell and Martin leaving the full time score 4-13 : 2-9 to Dunderry a superb performance from every man next up Wolfe Tones in Rd4.
