Na Fianna 2-15 Oldcastle 0-9
Na Fianna Ladies recorded an excellent victory over Oldcastle in Round 3 of the Senior Football Championship in Baconstown.
Na Fianna led from offset leaving Oldcastle pushing forward to gain scores, but the performance by Clare and Emma Coffey at the centre of the defence, plus Orla Horan, Niamh Griffin and Eimear Fagan on the wings helped curtail the scoring power of the Oldcastle attack.
With their two key forwards Maire Kirby and Leah Devine in top scoring form Na Fianna were leading at half time on a scoreline of 2-7 to 0-5.
The second half proved a much closer contest with each side trying to walk away with the coveted top points. More scores from Shauna & Sarah Ennis, Maebh Downey and Aideen Slattery saw Na Fianna the overall victors of the game.
This is Na Fianna’s second victory in the Championship and they are now on a well-earned break before they prepare for St Ultans in Round 4.
