FL Div 1: Second half collapse costs Gaeils

Gaeil Colmcille made the trip to Ashbourne for the earlier than usual throw in time of 10.30.

Gaeil Colmcille playing with the aid of a strong breeze got the opening score of the game when half-forward Stevie McManus pointed from distance. Gaeil Colmcille did close out the half the better team and went into the break two points to the good thanks to points from Sheridan, Ryan Farnham, Brian Hanlon and Fionn Ferguson to leave it 0-07 to 0-05 to Kells at half time.

Donaghmore Ashbourne set the tone for the second half and scored a goal in the opening minute. The home side never looked back then and scored some fine points from distance with the aid of the breeze to see them stretch their lead and the result was never in doubt when they went 11 points clear going into the final minutes.

Gaeil Colmcille did get a consolation goal when, Hanlon played an inch perfect pass to Barry Tormay who found the back of the net.
