St Peter’s, Dunboyne were the dominant force on the Meath senior club scene this year and they have plenty of contenders for this particular award.

Captain Cathal Finn delivered a ‘man-of-the-match’ performance in the 1-11 to 0-9  Keegan Cup decider victory over Summerhill while Seamus Lavin successfully curbed the influence of Summerhill sharpshooter Barry Dardis.

Centre-back Gavin McCoy proved to be the rock on which many an opposition attack perished while Shane McEntee and Sean Ryan also made handsome contributions to their club’s third SFC success.

At the opposite end of the field, Stuart Lowndes scored the all-important goal against the ‘Hill while Donal Lenihan kept the scoreboard ticking over regularly throughout the course of their eight game unbeaten campaign.

Lenihan’s full-forward line colleague Robbie McCarthy raised seven white flags (two from play) and his accuracy in front of the posts was a vital ingredient in Ciaron Byrne’s side’s winning formula.

The Dublin native hit 1-4 (1-2) from play in the penultimate stage victory over three-in-a-row chasing Simonstown.

The accurate free-taker was a constant thorn in the side of opposition defences and is our choice as the Senior Club Footballer of the Year.
