FL Div 3: Dunsany leave it late to seal win

There were ecstatic scenes in Pairc Na nGael on Friday night as Dunsany pulled victory from the jaws of defeat, with turned out to be the last knee of the game. The home side had been 6 points down with 10 minutes left in the game but should unbeliavble character and composure to play their way into a position to win the game. Veteran Andrew 'Cheesy' Keena was the hero with the vital goal.

The game up to that point had been played at a great pace with the visitors Kicking some fine scores and were full value for their lead to that point.

The visitors were quickest out of the blocks and found themselves ina 3-point advantage early on before Dunsany, playing in their Navy Kit, opened their account. The ever-reliable Pierre Fox did split the posts for the home side with a free before Declan Smyth added to leave a point between the side.

Drumbaragh added another point before Fox added another 2 placed kicks to leave the sides level.

The Kells side then found the net shortly after with an expertly taken goal leaving Dunsany 'Keeper Niall Flynn with no chance.  Flynn did keep dunsany in it with a fine save shortly after this.

Fox and Smyth added points after this to leave 2 points in it at the break, 1-4 -0-5.

 

The 3nd half started disastrously for Skane-siders. While fox did kick the first point of the half to leave the minimum between the sides, the drums centre back went on a run and found the back of the net to leave it 2-4 to 6 points. The away side added further scoires but Fox,Smyth and Danny Thynne added points to keep Dunsany in touch.

Again the visitors pulled ahead and soon went 6 points up.  Dunsany at this point had lost David Hobson to a black card and Jake Harlin to injury.

The homeside then began to eat into the lead. First with Kevin Keen and then fox.

Fox then added 2 frees to leave 2 points in it.

Subsitute Niall Brenna found himself free bearing down on the goal offloaded to the on-rushing Smyth who won a 45 on the estate side of the field. Dunsnay needing a win to secure Division 3 football for next season threw everyone forward bar wing back Pauraic Burke. Flynn came forward to drop the ball into the square from the '45 . The ball was sent in and fisted towards goal only to be deflected wide for another '45. This time from the Chucrch side of the field. Flynn again floated the ball in, Full-Back Gavin Byrne fisted the ball forward it deflected out towards the veteran Cheesy who who sent it forward it bounced back towards him and found the net off his knee to spark great scnes of celebration.

Referee Eamon Barry blew the full time whistle after this.

Drumbaragh unbeaten run of four wins came to an end with this narrow All County Division 3 FL loss to Dunsany.

Dunsany sealed the win with a goal in the 6th minute of injury time.

Points for DJ Carry, Conor Lynch and James Connolly put the Emmets into an early lead. Conor Lynch got in for a great goal on the 29th minute and Drumbaragh went in at the break 1-4 to 0-5 in front.

An unbelievable run from William Carry from his own half cut through the Dunsany defence and rattled the back of the net to put the Emmets in control. Two points sep arted the teams deep in injury time before Dundany struck for that late late winning goal.

Best for the winners were Conor Lynch, William Carry, Michael McNamee on a break from his leaving cert, Joe Carry and John D Smith.
