Meath legend Graham Geraghty reckons the Royals can upset Tyrone this Saturday evening when the two counties clash for their Round 1 qualifier in Navan.

During his inter-county career, which reaped two All-Ireland titles and Leinster crowns, Geraghty featured in epic battles with Tyrone and is expecting to see another physical encounter between the teams when they cross swords this weekend.

"Any Meath team loves playing against Northern teams because you know you're going to get a tough battle and it's going to be a hard, physical game," Geraghty told GAA.ie.

"It was always like that when I played against them, and, looking at this weekend, I don't expect anything else. I think we always upped our game against Tyrone. I definitely did anyway, I loved playing against the northern teams. They were hard games but they brought the best out in us.

"I'd wouldn't write Meath off this weekend. Tyrone aren't as strong as they were. Sean Cavanagh is a big loss and Peter Harte is missing as well, and he pulls a lot of strings for them. They have a couple of injury worries as well.

"After Meath were beaten by Longford I was hoping they would get a tough enough draw that they'd have to come out and play really well to win it, rather than getting the likes of Leitrim, London, or Louth where you wouldn't really know where you were."
