FL Div 3: Important win for Drumbaragh

St Ultans 1-10 Drumbaragh 1-12

Drumbaragh came out on top in the ACFL Division 3 game played in ideal conditions at Sean Newman Park. 

A goal from William carry and points from Stephen Meegan (2), Seanie Bennett and Jimmy Connolly gave the winners the perfect start inside seven minutes. The home side hit back but the Emmets took a 1-5 to 0-5 lead to the dressing room at half time.

Michael McNamee and Paddy Murray extended Drumbaragh's lead early in the second half but with 14 minutes gone Ultans were right back in this contest and only a point separted the teams. With four minutes remaining St Ultans goaled to level the game but points from Jimmy Connolly and William Carry sealed an important win for Drumbaragh.

St. Ultans Report

St Ultans 1-10 Drumbaragh 1-12 

St Ultans were defeated by Drumbaragh  in a tightly contested league match on Friday night. Drumbaragh started far the brighter and were leading by four points to a one with only five minutes played, Ultans score was a long range effort from midfielder Gearoid Rennicks. William Carry finished low past Cian Farnan in the Ultans goals in the seventh minute to leave six between the sides. Ultans finished the half with four points from play from Conor Smyth, Gearoid Rennicks and the Costello brothers Darren and Emmet. 

Drumbaragh led by a goal at half time and extended this further early in the second half. Ultans were denied a goal with a good save from Willie Arkins from an Eoin Kavanagh shot. Eoin reduced the gap shortly after with a free. Drumbaragh again extended the lead to four by 3 points from play from Breslin , Emmet Costello and a superb point from Cian Rennicks reduced the gap to one. Cian Rennicks fisted over to cancel out a Drumbaragh free and again leave just a point between the sides but two Drumbaragh scores left Ultans needing a goal to have any hope of a comeback. Tje goal came with four minutes to go when Cian Rennincks fisted a high ball to Ronan Breslin who did well to finish to the net. Drumbaragh went on to finish stronger and two late points were the difference between the sides when Martin Dawson blew the full time whistle. 

Next up for St Ultans is a trip to Meath Hill in the B League on Wednesday night
