Final words of advice for St. Ultans at Pairc Tailteann

St Ultans GFC                       3-12

St Pauls                                  0-09

After St Ultans intermediate team won their first round championship game on Wednesday all eyes turned to Saturday and the start of the Junior C championship. St Pauls were the opposition for this first round game played in Paddy O'Brien Park in Navan.

With a mixture of youth and experience Ultans started steady. Opening the scoring through Ciaran Rogers. Tadhg RattyPaddy McLoughlin and Gary Gorman all contributed to leave it four points to two at the 15 minute mark.

It was at this stage St Ultans won a penalty after Paddy McLoughlin was brought down after some good play out the field. Ciaran Rogers stepped up but his well taken penalty was excellently saved by the St Pauls goalkeeper.

When Tadhg Ratty did hit the net for the men in green and black, there was no coming back for St Pauls. Further points from Paidin Boggins and Gary Gorman left the score 1-6 to 0-2 points at half time.

Ultans began the second half how they finished the first. With Paddy McLoughlin and Paidin Boggins all adding to their accounts. The killer blow came half-way through the second half when Barry Brady and Tadhg Ratty both struck for goals in quick succession. This put an end to any possible comeback.

St Ultans will be happy with the attitude of the players and the high number of players who have committed to the Junior C's for 2018.
