The Delaney Cup and a shower for Summerhill captain Ross Ryan

The curtain came down on the Minor Football Championship last Saturday. Pairc Tailteann was the venue for five very exciting finals. Summerhill claimed the Delaney Cup (Division 1). Oldcastle won the Division 2 title with a dramatic win over Jenkinstown Gaels. Seneschalstown overcame Duleek Bellewstown in the Division 3 final. Ballivor Boardsmill needed a last minute point to defeat Gaeil Colmcille in the Division 4 decider while Moynalty claimed their second title in two years when beating Killbride in the Roinn 5 final.

We pick our best XV from the five finals.

1 Dean Reddy Skryne.
Couldn't be faulted for the Summerhill goal. Great kick outs and a couple of smart saves to keep the boys in Blue and White in the game.

2 Dylan Garrigan Oldcastle:
Still Under 16 the young defender proceeded to give a masterclass in defence as Oldcastle claimed their first ever championship title at this level. His point in the second was a  turning point in the game

3 Iarla Hughes Summerhill.
Mopped up around the edge of the square on numerous occasions. When Skryne applied the pressure in the second half many of their attacks broke down around the dual star.

4 Niall Hickey Seneschalstown.
Played with number 9 on his back but truth be told could have picked his place anywhere on this team. Spend the hour up and down Pairc Tailteann for the Yellow Furze cause and scored one of the points of the game.

5 Colin Walsh Seneschalstown.
The rising star went about his defensive duties with no fuss what so ever. Cleared his lines and helped out his forwards on numerous occasions.

6 Robbie Clarke Skryne.
Improving every year. Clever on the ball and very strong in the tackle. Expect to see this young footballer in a senior club jersey next year.

7 Eoghan Crowe Summerhill.
Like most modern half backs covered the whole of Pairc Tailteann as the 'Hill' claimed their 1st Delaney Cup in over 10 years. Man marked Darragh Campion to great effect and chipped in with two fine first half points.

8 Anthony Nevin Moynalty.
An overall brilliant display from the midfielder. Kicked eight fine points as Moynalty made it two championships in as many years.

9 Niall Durkin Ballivor Boardsmill.
One of the best midfielders on view over the course of the five finals. Excellent in the air and drove the amalgamation side on at every opportunity.

10 Eoin Smith Skryne.
One of the best performers for the Tara men in the Delaney Cup final. Outstanding work rate and link play and still had the time to send over three great points.

11 Cathal Ryan Summerhill.
Stong and hard working on the 40. Switched to full forward on occasion. Top scored for the minor champions with five points.

12 Jason Scully Oldcastle.
Another that started in midfield but could have picked his place in a number of positions. Was outstanding in the MFL final last April and continued this form on championship final day. Scored 1-5 including that dramatic late winner.

13 Cathal Finnegan Seneschalstown.
Gave the Duleek Bellewstown rearguard a torrid time especially in the first half. First to every ball and scored at every given opportunity. The corner forward sent over four great points.

14 CJ Healy Oldcastle.
Was our man of the match in the Division 2 decider. Again could have played in any of the forward positions. Involved in most of the Oldcastle attacks. Showed great maturity with the penalty, sent over 2 points and even covered back in defence as Jenkinstown came looking for the equaliser.

15 Sean Healy Jenkinstown Gaels.
The top scorer over the five finals. A keen eye for goal, the corner forward scored 3-3 in that dramatic defeat to Oldcastle at Pairc Tailteann.
