U-21 "A" Football Championship

Full time: St. Michaels 0-7, Na Fianna 1-14,

Incisive use of scoring opportunities when the need arose in the second half of this match played in ideal conditions in Trim on Sunday morning put Na Fianna through to the next round and sent St. Michaels out of this years U-21 'A' football championship.

Although Na Fianna led by five points at the break, they hadn't got it all their own way in that opening half, St. Michaels enjoyed lots of first half possession but they lacked the forward strength to seriously threaten their opponents hitting 7 wides and only registering two points, one of which came from the penalty spot.

Na Fianna fired home their goal 3 minutes after the restart, this was followed by two further points before Shane McCormack made a brilliant penalty save on 40 minutes. Points from Ronan Lynch 0-2 and Ray Reilly 0-1 followed that save, but back came Na Fianna with five more points on the trot as Ray Reilly and Shane McDonnell added a point apiece to complete the scoring for St. Michaels.
