Ballina-James Stephens 0-17
Tooreen B 0-09

The Ballina-James Stephens Hurling Club picked up their second piece of silverware in a week when they claimed the Junior Hurling League after a convincing eight point win over TooreenB in McHale Park.

The game was in the balance right up to the final quarter, as the sides lay deadlocked on nine points apiece, but a strong last 15 minutes from the Moysiders - in which they scored eight unanswered points - saw them home. Top scorer for Ballina was teenager Sean Regan, as he converted ten points in total - seven of which came from dead balls - while captain Barry Walsh (2) and fellow midfielder John Tighe also got on the scoresheet.

Tooreens main scoring threat came from Joey Ganley - who converted five points over the hour - while in defence Stephen Commins and Ciaran Charlton gave best performances.

After the tie, John Hopkins - Mayo GAA Hurling Chairman - presented the inaugural Junior Hurling League Shield to Barry Walsh - captain of the successful Ballina James Stephens side.
