Mayo manager James Horan was left to rue poor decision-making from his side as they suffered another heartbreaking All-Ireland SFC final defeat at the hands of Tyrone.

Since their last Sam Maguire Cup success in 1951, the Connacht kingpins have finished on the wrong end of eleven finals.

"We're disappointed with how we played today. Very disappointed," Horan told RTÉ Sport.

"Look it, we're very proud of the guys and the effort and commitment they put in this year and the development and growth we've made this year.

"Today is very disappointing but in the overall context, there was a lot of development."

Horan admitted the Red Hands deserved their victory on the day.

"Tyrone were very good today. They were very strong, strong on their kickouts, they made great gains there. Tyrone were good and deserved their win for sure."
