Fitzpatrick handed another term

Louth manager Peter Fitzpatrick after last years Leinster final defeat to Meath in Croke Park.
Peter Fitzpatrick was last night reappointed Louth football manager for a third year.
Fitzpatrick was originally appointed for three years in 2009, subject to a review after two years, which was necessitated after Louth's championship defeats to Carlow and Meath. His election to Dail Eireann earlier this year had also raised doubts about his ability to continue as manager, but this issue wasn't raised at last night's county board meeting.
While Louth endured a disappointing championship campaign this year, Fitzpatrick has made significant progress with the team over the past two years. They reached their first Leinster final in 50 years last summer, only to be denied victory by a shocking refereeing decision, while they captured the NFL Division 3 title last April and will compete in Division 2 next year.
