Results: Division 6 League St. Kevins 0-21, O’Connells 5-10.

OFF: The GAA’s Management Committee has endorsed a decision to suspend all GAA Club games at all levels with immediate effect and until further notice. The decision has been taken in the interest of public safety following a number of incidents that have been brought to their attention in recent days. In particular, post-match celebrations and a lack of social distancing at certain events have proved disappointing and problematic. This directive applies to all ages and all grades across the island. Club Social Centres / bars are also to close. Training will continue to be permitted as per the guidelines outlined for the relevant levels in the Government's National Framework for Living with Covid 19 and relevant guidelines in the Six Counties.

Div. 6 League: We got our first win in this division last Tuesday night against St. Kevins in Hunterstown under lights. In what was a high scoring game it was good to see some of the players who are allowed to play in this league lining out and enjoying the game. Some good scores taking on the night but the three goal line saves in the first half from corner back PJ Tuite were excellent and kept the team in the game. There was three sets of brothers on the team as David Neasy let me know after the game, when was the last time that occurred? We had Jack and Brendan Saddlier, Liam and Conor Kiernan and the two Geeneys Cian and Sean.

Team: Cian Geeney; PJ Tuite, John McLougjlin, Liam Kiernan; Jack Saddlier, Conor Kiernan, Stefan O’Hanrahan; Dean Stanfield 1-1, Sean Cairns 0-1; Cian O’Dwyer 1-1, Dean Corrigan 0-1, Brendan Saddlier; Sean Geeney 2-3, Bernard Osbourne 1-3(1f), Jamie Murphy. Subs Matthew Reynolds for J. Murphy, Keith Woods for J. Saddlier, David Neasy for PJ. Tuite, John Quinn for B. Saddlier, Jamie Murphy for D. Stanfield.

Duty: The club would like to wish two of our players Jackie Agnew & Stuart Osbourne a safe journey and a safe tour as they are off today Tuesday on duty with the Irish defence forces to Syria. Stay safe lads from all at O’Connells GFC.

Draw: Wee County Double House draw is still on and will now take place on 4th April 2021 Tickets are available from any O’Connells committee member or online from www.pickahouse.ie. Buy your ticket before 30th September and enter a draw for €5,000.
