LOUTH U14 FEILE NA NGAEL HURLING FINAL 2013

NAOMH MONINNE 9-8
KNOCKBRIDGE/GERALDINES 0-1

The young hurlers of Naomh Moninne will represent Louth at this year's U14 Feile na nGael festival of hurling in Limerick from July 5-7 following their comprehensive victory over the combination outfit of Knockbridge/Geraldines at Dowdallshill on Tuesday night (April 30).

The Dundalk town side had a match winner in their centre half forward Darren Geoghegan who top scored with 4-2, with all four of his goals coming in the second half.

Moninne led by 0-4 to 0-0 after 11 minutes of play and they added a brace of goals from Ben Walsh and Eoin Murphy to lead by 2-4 to 0-0 at the break.

They effectively wrapped up the victory with three quick goals at the start of the second half from Darren Geoghegan (2) and Ultan McEneaney. With the score standing at 5-6 to 0-0 the combination side finally opened their account on 38 minutes when Padraig Cunningham struck over a free from close range.

Geoghegan took his tally of goals to four with both Feildlim Joyce and Ultan McEneaney again, also raising the green flag to seal their side's first Feile title since 2010.

Afterwards the Feile na nGael trophy was presented to the Naomh Moninne captain Matthew Fee by Coiste Iomana Co Lu Secretary Maurice Murphy.
