U12 Match Reports – Group 5 and Group 2 final games: At U12 In our Minor Club we are blessed with good numbers. 2019 and 2020 have been 2 great years seeing us fielding to 2 teams in summer competition. This year we had 2 panels playing in Group 2 and Group 5 league competitions. On Saturday 12th of September our Group 5 team came out on top in the Shield Final beating Clonguish Og on a score line of 0-9 to 0-7. This team put in an unbelievable performance against a strong Clonguish side. At the half time mark we were down 0-7 to 0-2 but we regrouped and put in a super 2nd half and running out eventual winners. It was great to see this group of players end the summer leagues with some silverware. The Group 5 was set up to help bring on some of the younger U12s on the panel with many of these players with 2 or more years left at U12. Team: Oren McNerney, Sean McAvennia, Conor McAvennia, Eoin Conboy, Oran Taaffe, Lauren Maguire, Sean Waters, Charlie Reilly, Elenor O’Reilly, Natalie McEntire, Sarah Bucannon, Erin Kearney, Cian Brady,  Jake Carragher, Neil O’Reilly, Jayden Maguire, Adam Maguire, Andy Duffy, Tommy Duffy, Tiernan O’Reilly, Ben O’Connor, Joe Donohoe, Caoimhe Shannon, Darragh Bucannon.

On Thursday 24 September, it was the turn of our Group 2 team who were out in the final game of the league against a very strong Longford Slashers outfit. We were second on the league table with just 1 point separating us from Longford Slashers so it was a must win in order to take the league title. Our Group 2 team put in a valiant effort however we came off second best on the day. Longford Slashers were a much bigger side to us and had some very good footballers togged out. Our team fought to the bitter end and did very well in the final quarter of the game to close the gap. Our Group 2 team had a fantastic run overall in the league and should be very proud of their 4 out of 6 wins in this competition. Team: Christopher Corrigan, Sean McAvennia, Eoin Conboy, Evan McNerney, John Reilly, Lauren Maguire, Padraig Mulligan, Darragh Grimes,Joe Kiernan, Charlie Reilly, Donnacha Reynolds, Ryan McCabe, Cormac Mulligan, Elenor O’Reilly, Sarah Bucannon, Jake Carragher & Dylan Macken. With these great numbers and such an abundance of skilful players the future is surely looking bright for Dromard GAA.
