In the third round of the County Senior Hurling Championship, Ahane had a comprehensive victory against Knockainey winning on a scoreline of 2-20 to 0-7. Whilst the game was closely contested in the early stages, goals from Sean O'Connor and Paul O'Connor,in addition to the superb accuracy of Niall Moran from frees, Ahane led 2-9 to 0-3 at half time. Ahane continued to dominate in the second half and whilst Knockainey tried hard, the result was always going to be in Ahane's favour. Ahane will now play Adare in the quarter-finals. In the Under 14A County Football semi-final, Ahane beat a much fancied Ballylanders side on a scoreline of 4-10 to 0-6. Ahane will play the winners of Mungret/Deel Rangers in the County Final.
In the P.J. Matthews East U21 Hurling Championship, Ahane defeated Murroe/Boher 3-19 to 3-09 in a very entertaining game in Mackey Park on Sunday evening and have qualified for the East final against Doon. Club Lotto Draw will be held on Saturday night in the Clubhouse.
