Q3 SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP Ballybrown 2-18 Croom 1-12 Ballybrown travelled to Croagh on Friday 31 July to lock horns with Croom in round four of this years county senior hurling championship.  Conor Allis opened the Croom account with a point from play, David Hall responded for Ballybrown before Alan O Connor latched onto a long ball to raise a green flag, his first score out of a personal tally of 1-11. Ballybrown went on to hold a four point advantage at half time 1-08 to 0-07, but things could have been tighter had Croom been more accurate in front of goal.  Croom hit a purple patch in the first five minutes of the second half with a goal and two points, with a point from Mark Sheehan being our only reply to level matters at 1-09 apiece. A point from Mikey Kiely ten minutes into the second half was quickly cancelled out with a Croom point before a second point from Mikey Kiely and two points from Alan O Connor gave us a three point lead. A goal from Shane Kenny with four minutes left to play was the score that finally put distance between the teams and Ballybrown ran out deserved winners in the end. Ballybrown now have five points from four games having won two, drawn one and lost one, and out of relegation trouble for the year.  We now face Doon in the last round knowing that a win will be enough to get us  into the quarter final.  Doon will undoubtably be favourites going into this game but our lads are playing well enough to give themselves a chance and hopefully with the Ballybrown support behind them we can go one step further and make the knockout stage and that quarter final spot.

UNDER 14 HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP Ballybrown 4-08 Ahane 1-04 Our under 14s continue to impress with another great win on Wednesday 29th July in Clarina, in the county championship. Ballybrown had to come from behind after going down by six points early on.

UNDER 16 HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP Ballybrown suffered a big defeat in this round of the under 16 championship. Missing many of their older players against one of the best teams in the county it was always going to be a though ask.

FAMILY SPORTS DAY Our juvenile club are once again putting their shoulders to the wheel and renewing the family sports day which those of us of a certain vintage will remember with fond memories. They have many new events like car racing and crossbar challenge along with the old favourites like egg and spoon race, sack race, three leged race, and of course the donkey derby with a BBQ as well. The family day is Sunday 23rd August from 2pm and all are welcome.
