March 02, 2009
"Here comes the Boy" - that was the difference between Sneem and St. Patrick's at Rhebogue last Saturday evening when the big day arrived for Celebrity Bainistior. St. Patrick’s intermediate Football team took control of the game in the last quarter of the match to win out by 2-08 to 1-06 over Sneem G.A.A. Club from Co. Kerry in the quarter final in the T.V. Celebrity Bainistior. Over the last month or so life at St. Patrick’s has been very active in preparation for last weekend game and everything went perfect on the Day for the home club. St. Patrick’s led by one point at the break 1-03 to 1-02 when there had scores from Cian Hanrahan penalty goal and that was followed by points from Patrick Mullins, Eoin Hanrahan and John Mullane. The second half both teams were level again midway into the second half at 1-05 each, but then the younger team of the two St. Patrick’s took control of the game and ran out five points winners by 2-08 to 1-06. Patrick Mullins hitting over four points and John Mullane hitting Saints second goal and when Cian Hanrahan hit over the final score of the game with minutes to go the biggest crowd ever seen at the Rhebogue venue went home happy. The St. Patrick’s team lined out as follows, Daragh McMahon, Shane Considine, Mark Phelan, Barry Toomey, David Sheehan, Barry O Doherty, Tony Quigley, Gearoid Phelan, Cian Hanrahan, Dermott Phelan, Niall Phelan, Eoin Hanrahan, Jeffery McNamara, John Mullane and Patrick Mullins.
