Joe Canning reckons Cian Lynch has been spending less time in the gym as Limerick gear up for their tilt at five-in-a-row.

And the former Galway star thinks that may not be a bad thing, suggesting that the two-time Hurler of the Year looked ‘faster and nimbler’ in Saturday night’s Allianz Hurling League Division 1B victory over Limerick.

“One thing about Cian Lynch last night, I think he looked a little bit slimmer for some reason and he looked a lot faster and nimbler on his feet than he did maybe last year,” Canning said on RTÉ Radio 1’s Sunday Sport.

“So I thought it was interesting from my view not to say that he was too big, there's not a pick on him.

“I wouldn't be surprised if he's not in the gym as much as he used to be. He just looked really nimble last night.”
