INTERMEDIATE HURLERS

 

Our Intermediate hurlers were in round 2 action in the County Intermediate Championship on Sunday when they travelled to Croom to take on Kilmallock.

A must win game after our round 1 defeat to Effin which added a bit of pressure to the game.

We began the game quite well and it was evident that the lads meant business. A Dylan Lynch point and 2 James Daly frees raced us into 3 point lead as things were going well. A second Dylan Lynch point brought us up to the water break on 4 points to one lead.

Following the restart we had points from Evan Gilvarry, James O Brien and James Daly all from play.

James O Brien then flashed the ball to the back of the Kilmallock net and this was followed up by two further points from Dylan Lynch and Evan Gilvarry.

We led at the break 1-09 to 0-05

The start of the second half we pressed home our advantage with two well taken goals from Dylan Lynch and James O Brien and by the water break we were well in control 3-12 to 0-11.

Our defensive unit were playing well lead superbly by Evan Condon between the sticks with Evan O Brien and Niall Buckley in fine form.

Donal O Conaill and Pauric Heaney hurled well all day. Dean McLoughlin and Pat Gleeson covered a lot of ground forming the link between defence and attack.

Up front Evan Gilvarry had a fine outing with 5 points from play along with Dyla Lynch who chipped in with 1-3.

Elsewhere James OP Brien added 2-02 to our tally and proved a huge torn in Kilmallock's side.

Points too from Pat Gleeson, David Sheppard and Pa O Neill finished our tally 0f 3-19 to Kilmallock 1-13

JUNIOR HURLERS

 

Our Junior hurlers were also in action on Sunday when they entertained Crecora in Na Piarsaigh on Sunday evening.

This was a very good team performance from the start with a scattering of youth and experience.

Our defence was solid marshalled well by Kevin McNamara and Brian Hartnett.

In midfield player manager Ruairi O Conaill and John Leahy worked tirelessly to supply good ball to the forward line.

Marcus Hogan, Ger Kearns and in particular Justin Norden got some great scores with plenty of help from Dillon Skehan, Calvin Moynihan and Kevin Hodnett.

A good start for the team with next up an away trip to Baallybrown

The weekly lotto draw took place on Monday and the following were the results.

The numbers drawn were 04, 15, 25, 27 No jackpot winner

3 lucky dip winners were Will O Donoghue, Ed Mulligan and Ger Slater.

James Burke won the sellers prize and Christine Daly the door prize.

Next weeks jackpot is now 7600 euro

 

CAMOGIE

 

There was no joy for the Minor camogie side who were defeated by Ahane in the County Minor semi final.

A valiant effort by the team who just came up against a very good opponent.

It wasn't from a lack of effort as the girls gave every ounce of effort before losing out 3-12 to 2-07.

Plenty more to come from this team as we look forward to watching their progress in years ahead.

 

Congratulations also to the Limerick Under 14 sides who had good wins over the weekend.

The teams included Lucy Murray, Kate Grant, Caitlin Ryan and Anna Rose Benson with Diarmuid Ryan as team manager.

 

UNDER 17 HURLERS

Our under 17 hurlers bowed out of this years championship by virtue of a narrow defeat to Mungret St Pauls in the club during the week.

It has been a rough few weeks for this team who had no fewer than 5 games in 12 days .

This is something that will have to be revisited as player welfare is certainly not been followed.

Anyway to the game, which was nip and tuck all the way with a very disputed Mungret goal proving the difference between the teams on the night.

Massive credit to the entire squad who put in a huge effort all year. The management also deserve great credit for managing these situations so well.

Our senior hurlers will be back in action this Saturday night when they face Ballybrown in the Gaelic Grounds at 7.30pm.

Our underage nursery is now back in full swing. We are delighted to see so many familiar faces and welcome all our new faces.
