Junior A Hurling Championship:

St Patrick's  2 17 Monagea  1 15

Our Junior  hurling team started  their championship  game in the best possible fashion  with a win on Sunday against West Limerick side Monagea. This was very much  a game of two halves with St Patrick's  superb  in the first half, two well worked goals finished  to the net by Diarmuid  Hegarty  and Kyle Mullins the highlight in a fine first half of championship   hurling. St Patrick's  led

2 12 to 0 03 and seemed to be coasting to  a first round win, credit to Monagea  who had other ideas and came out all guns blazing for the second half to make  it a very good contest. St Patrick's  were to finish with a five point win and  2 17 on the board. Championship  is all about momentum  and it was vital to come away from Askeaton with a win in this first round  game, great credit  must go to all involved. St Kierans will be next up in round two this  Sunday at 1pm in Croagh.

Intermediate  Football:

Our football team were in championship action  in the  past week in a group that was deemed a very  tough one from the outset.

Mungret were first up in  Croom on Thursday last. It was a high  octane game from the off with 5 goals in the first half and a missed St Patrick's  penalty, with both teams playing a brand of football that was very easy on the eye. St Patrick's  could and should have been ahead at the break  but the sides went in level. Mungret  took the lead on the restart and found extra space as Saints pushed to claw back the game, it was not to be and Mungret ran out deserved winners in the end.

Rathkeale were the opposition in round two, again a team who have been in the senior grade and knocking on the door of Intermediate  in recent years. This game was the polar opposite  to our first round game, with defences on top and  it was evident alot was at stake with neither team giving an inch. The teams were level at both half time and full time in a tough, tense encounter.

Credit to the management  and a very young  panel  of players   who represented the club  with great honesty and commitment.  They will no doubt have grown and learned plenty  in both games.

U17 Hurling:

St Patrick's/ Claughaun  amalgamation  played two crucial championship  games this week against  Croom and Patrickswell, both were very close battles that   ended up in defeat in the latter stages. Both games could have went either way and there is alot of positives  to be taken. Well done all.

U19 Premier Football:

The Minor Football team will play Newcastlewest in Rhebogue  this Tuesday  night. A win will secure a County Semi Final spot, so all support  is very much needed for this super bunch of players.Best of luck to all involved.

Friday Nights Hurling:

Friday nights  hurling returned for our U7s and under on Friday last.

Some of the older group welcomed Old Christians and the younger members  had a hugely enjoyable night  back in the field. We had  super numbers present  and it was a hive of activity with plenty of smiling, happy faces delighted  to be back in Rhebogue.

Our U9s had a football blitz  welcoming  Bruff and  Caherconlish, there was 25 in the green of St Patrick's  and very competitive in all games. Brilliant to see.Our U11 hurlers also continued with their training,  building on their fantastic  outing against  Ahane on Tuesday  night.

Well done all.
