County Senior Championship
All roads lead to Tournafulla next Sunday evening where our senior footballers begin their championship campaign against the reigning county champions Drom/Broadford. This game will be a repeat of last year's county semi-final in which Drom/Broadford emerged victorious with four points to spare. Hopefully on this occasion Fr. Caseys can reverse the fortunes but nothing will be easy against the team who have dominated Limerick football for the past decade. Fr. Caseys in contrast have been the underachievers with only two county titles in the past 12 years but there is definitely plenty of potential in this current squad to capture the county crown once more. The game takes place in Tournafulla with a throw in time of 7.00pm. Hopefully a large crowd will be present to support the boys in blue as they look to start their championship campaign with victory.

County Minor Football Championship
Fr. Caseys 2-12 Ardagh/Rathkeale 0-08

Fr. Caseys Minor Footballers travelled to Rathkeale last Tuesday evening to take on Ardagh/Rathkeale in the second round of the county championship. Having defeated Galbally in their opening game, Fr. Caseys were looking to continue winning ways ahead of the exam break.

A point from Cathal Broderick opened the scoring after 5 minutes. Great work from defence gave Trucker a goal opportunity on 8 minutes and he didn't disappoint, dispatching the ball to the back of the net. A point from Jamie O'Connor put Fr. Caseys into a commanding five point lead before great play from Darragh Walsh and Cathal Broderick setup Jack Breen to rattle the net for a second time. Points from Jonathon Lyons and Peter Browne put Fr. Caseys further in the ascendancy before a brace of points from Jack Breen gave Fr. Caseys a twelve point lead. Two excellent long range points from Cormac Roche and TJ Lane stretched the lead further before Jamie O'Connor capped off a brilliant first half for the Abbeyfeale men with his second point of the night. The half time score was Fr. Caseys 2-09, Ardagh/Rathkeale 0-00.

Ardagh/Rathkeale to their credit emerged a stronger force in the second period and got their first point after three minutes. Jack Breen replied for Fr. Caseys to restore the 16 point advantage. Three points without reply made the scoreboard more respectable for Ardagh/Rathkeale before Cormac Roche kicked another point for Fr. Caseys. Fr. Caseys were guilty of complacency in the final quarter and Ardagh/Rathkeale kicked four unanswered points before Cormac Roche concluded the scoring in the dying minutes. The final score was Fr. Caseys 2-12, Ardagh/Rathkeale 0-08. This was a fantastic display from our minors who have now recorded two wins from two games. The championship now breaks until July for the leaving certificate exams. We wish all our players the best of luck in their upcoming examinations.

County Senior Football League
Fr. Caseys 2-06 St. Senans 1-07

Fr. Caseys Senior Footballers travelled to Foynes last Wednesday evening to take on St. Senans in the opening round of the county league. On a wet evening it was Fr. Caseys who raised the first white flag when Billy Quirke pointed a free in the opening five minutes. The lead was soon doubled when Donagh Kelly opened his account. On ten minutes Donagh Kelly found himself on the end of a great passing movement from defence and with only the goalkeeper to beat, Donagh made no mistake to put Fr. Caseys into a five point lead. Fr. Caseys looked the dominant team with our defence out in front and our forwards full of energy. Unfortunately midway through the half our fortunes began to change and St. Senans began their comeback. Scoring 1-03 without reply in a ten minute period put St. Senans into the lead and Fr. Caseys were suddenly on the back foot. Thankfully Timmy Gleeson kicked a wonderful point from 30 yards before the break to level proceedings. The half time score was Fr. Caseys 1-04, St. Senans 1-04.

Fr. Caseys needed a bright start to the second half but it was St. Senans who struck first with a point. A point from Eoin Joy levelled proceedings before the sides again exchanged points with Timmy Gleeson on target for Fr. Caseys. With ten minutes remaining the game was in the melting pot but up stepped Timmy Gleeson to rattled the St. Senans net to give the Abbeyfeale men a three point advantage. St. Senans never gave up and reduced the margin to two points with five minutes remaining. In the closing minutes Fr. Caseys defence held firm to hold on for victory. The final score was Fr. Caseys 2-06, St. Senans 1-07. Missing some first team players this was a positive display against a strong St. Senans team. The next big challenge for our senior footballers will be this Sunday when Fr. Caseys take on Drom/Broadford in the opening round of the county championship.

Limerick Senior Footballers
Congratulations to the Limerick Senior Footballers who won the Division 4 National League Final last Saturday against Offaly in Croke Park. Trailing for most of the game, Limerick recovered from a six point deficit and hit the front in the closing minutes to record a historic two point victory. All four Fr. Caseys players made significant contributions in the game and we are extremely proud of them all. Well done to Paudie, John, Derry and Mike on a fantastic achievement.

Limerick Minor Footballers
The Limerick Minor Footballers were knocked out of the Munster Championship last Sunday evening when they were defeated by 1-12 to 0-09 by Clare in Cusack Park, Ennis. Well done to Jack Breen and John Murphy who did the club proud throughout the campaign.
