U13 HURLERS SNATCH VICTORY WITH LATE GOAL
U13 HURLING LEAGUE
PALLASKENRY 2-3 SHAMROCK GAELS 1-4
An inspired switch bringing ëkeeper Eoin Sheehan outfield and replacing him with the agile and ever alert Tommy Neville saw our U13 hurlers snatch victory in the All County League against our opponents from South Limerick last week. Missing a few players we started slowly with Shamrock Gaels taking the game to us and putting over two quick points as we missed a couple of chances of our own. Eventually we found our range with Gary Maher finishing expertly following good work from Harley Moloney & Ryan Kelly. But Shamrock Gaels continued to be strong in defence and added a goal just before half time to lead by 1-3 to 0-1.
In the second half, with a good breeze at our backs, we played much stronger with Cian Moloney & Jason Barry playing well in defence and Darren OíConnell & Ryan Kelly driving things on from midfield we finally broke down the Shamrocksí defence. Harley Moloney & Gary Maher picked off a couple of fine points before Christopher Leahy scored a good goal to leave us trailing by just a point. The last five minutes were very exciting but a switch by management that saw ëkeeper Eoin Sheehan swap positions with full forward Tommy Neville proved vital. Almost immediately Tommy was called into action making a couple of excellent saves and at the other end Eoin scored the winning goal. This was a terrific second half performance and a deserving result, well done to the players and management team of Noel Leahy, Tom OíConnell & Jim Holland. Next up is trip to Askeaton this Monday to play Askeaton/Ballysteen @ 7:30pm.
