Club Notes 2nd Aug 2021.   

 

2021 Masonite Div 2 League Final Success: 

Last Saturday evening we hosted Aughnasheelin in the 2021 Masonite Div 2 League Final. In the aftermath of the 2020 Intermediate Championship victory the previous weekend we were all hoping for a continuation of the winning streak and the lads duly supplied, albeit making us sweat. Gortletteragh opened the scoring with a point in the sixth minute of play. Aughnasheelin quickly followed with four unanswered points before we saw a Gortletteragh ball pass through the uprights again. There was little between the teams for the remainder of the first half with both sides accumulating a number of scores including two goals for Gortletteragh from Cathal McCrann, leaving only two points in it at half-time. They say ‘goals win games’ and after the display in the second half of this game one would have to agree. While Aughasheelin clocked up seven points to our two in a half of nearly forty minutes, it was the scoring of four goals in the half that secured the win for us, two of these from Evan Ward and two from Cathal McCrann to give a Final Score of 6-06 to 1-16. Congratulations to captain Colm Duffy and his team and management on a great result. 

 

Wedding Congratulations: 

We send heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Tracy and Frank Egan on their wedding celebration last weekend. Tracy is a very active member with our underage with their two boys both playing at that level while Frank is busy flying the Gortletteragh flag with the Gortletteragh-Ballygar Tug-of-War team. We wish Tracy and Frank a long life of health and happiness. 

 

2021 Connacht Gold Senior Championship: 

The Senior championship starts this weekend and we wish the team and management the best of luck as they return to the senior ranks, encountering Melvin Gaels in the first round on Saturday evening at 7pm in the park.

Keeldra Gaels U14 Final: 

We wish the best of luck to the U14 Keeldra Gaels ladies who meet Annaduff in the Shield Final on Wednesday evening at 7pm in Annaduff. All support greatly appreciated.  

 

U15’s: 

Rinn Gaels U15’s play McDiarmada Gaels in Bornacoola on Thursday evening – check fixtures for time.  

 

U17’s: 

The U17’s team resume their championship next Monday evening with a home game against St Mary’s-Kiltoghert at 7pm.
